Etouffee was formed in 1987, featuring Barbara Jamerson on vocals, and  Kenny Ard on keyboard and vocals. Next Don Bowman joined the group on sax and flute, and soon Linda Kent added her percussive abilities to the sound. To complete the ensemble, Oliver Shirley added bass and  the real Etouffee was born.  Hundreds of gigs and many years later, the group still plays on, bringing the sounds of New Orleans to San Diego and beyond.
